School visits by author to support School Book Week

Would your school like a visit from Corinne V. Davies, author, or El Ashfield, illustrator, of the Ralph series and Trucilla's Wedding Cake?

Corinne is currently conducting a very popular tour of Scottish Schools with her books, which many schools are using to help bring School Book Week alive or early readers. El is organising a similar tour for London schools. The school presentation is ideally suited to children  in Primary 3 to Primary 5 and aims to support literary development in a manner that is fun and inspires children.

When Ralph visits your school, pupils can enjoy:

  • Animated readings by the author from the book.
  • Interactive sessions with pupils about the storyline and the true meaning of being a "Superhero".
  • A poetry workshop.
  • A question and answer session with the author.

Interactive Ralph sessions

We understand that having fun is a key element to learning for young children which is why we invite pupils to colour in some of their favourite Ralph characters, try their hand at our great Ralph Word Search...and even make their very own Ralph Superhero mask! We even try our 'truth helmet' out on the teachers or use a detector to source the secret spy in the room. On occasions, a giant Vampire has been known to visit too!

Teacher Testimonials:-

P3A loved listening to Corinne bringing the stories to life, especially her own.  She had their rapt attention and related to the children brilliantly.  I would highly recommend her. Ian Parkinson

The P.4A pupils thoroughly enjoyed this visit and loved ‘Ralph is (Not) a Superhero’.  Many are now interested to know if there are other titles available by Corinne Davies.  They were delighted with the badges, character images and the opportunity to collect an autograph.  Ruth Thomson

P2a thoroughly enjoyed the stories about Ralph and would like to hear more.  Thanks for a great afternoon.

P2B were very excited to meet a real author and hear her talk about the characters in the book. They thought the story was very funny and enjoyed the rhymes. The huge model of Ralph was big surprise!
Jane Giebeler

Primary 1C and 2C thoroughly enjoyed the "Ralph is not a Superhero" story telling session.  We loved guessing the rhymes and particularly enjoyed the incident with the cat in the tree.  We can't wait for more!
Astrid Gracie

Primary 4B loved meeting the author of “Ralph...” especially as they had just finished reading the book and found it very funny.
You held their attention and involved them from the get go; the work you did with them creating their own poems rounded off the session brilliantly.  We’re all desperate to hear about Ralph’s next adventure!
